| Thank you so much for taking a moment to come here and find out what's going on. Chances are that you know me, and that's how you ended up here. If not, bear with me for a moment and I'll tell you more about myself directly. The long and the short of it is that I'm training to run the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon in October. I am running as part of a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society program called Team In Training, wherein they train me to participate and I raise sponsorship money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They also connect me with a patient hero, someone who is even now battling leukemia. My patient hero is a six-year-old girl named Maggie - be sure to keep coming back to this site, as I am hoping to very soon include a page dedicated to my patient hero. As for the fundraising, I have set a personal goal to raise at least $3500. This, of course, is where you come in. I created this website in an attempt to reach those for whom I have no permanent mailing address, as well as to make the information and opportunity for support open to those outside of my immediate circle of family and friends. Please click here to forward this URL on to anyone that you think might be interested in lending his or her support to this cause. You'll find quick links in the upper-right-hand corner of each page to take you to all of the areas of the site. Or, just click the links below:
Now, for the rest of you who may not know me or what I'm about... My name is Kenner Estes. I do not, as a general rule, enjoy running all that much. However, running a marathon is one of those things that has always been on my "One Day I'm Gonna'..." list, and I could hardly find a better cause than this one. I am 30 years old, 5'6", and about 190 pounds. Yes, do the math and you will correctly arrive at the conclusion that I am one short, stocky individual. It has been several years since I was what any rational person would consider "athletic". I have not yet, however, gone completely to seed, so this seemed like the time to get moving and get into shape. Other facts about me... I am originally from Arkansas, though I was raised primarily in southwest Missouri. I have a BA in Theatre and have studied French in Québec. While I found these studies to be fascinating and personally enriching, I did not find them able to provide me with a very steady income, so I now work in technology, providing computer support and some server administration for a well-known magazine publication based in Chicago. I dabble in computer programming and also work with a theatre company here in Chicago, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble. I have studied Taekwon-do and Aikido, the latter only for a brief time but long enough to absolutely fall in love with it. I am still trying to figure out a schedule that works for me so that I can make Aikido part of my life. If you are interested in learning more about Aikido, I highly recommend this site. I love movies, dig music. My girlfriend and I play Gamecube games and eat pizza. We both really like that. Incidentally - Pequod's. Best pizza in the city. Yeesh, I don't know what else to tell you. Do you feel like you know me well enough now? If not, please just send me an e-mail and ask whatever you want, anything to help you feel comfortable sponsoring me in this endeavor. Thanks again for coming to check this out. It means a lot. Kenner
