Friends and Family:
I have recently embarked upon one of the greatest challenges of my life to date: preparing to run the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon on Saturday, October 13, 2002. If you know me, you just either chuckled or gasped. Yes, at 26.2 miles it's daunting, but I'm running for a great cause. I have joined forces with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training to raise money for leukemia research, patient aid, and public health education. I have set a personal goal to raise at least $3500. Team In Training is helping me prepare for the physical challenge of completing this marathon. They have also connected me with my partner in this endeavor: Maggie, a six-year-old "Patient Hero" currently undergoing treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia. What I am asking of you is to join me, Maggie, and Team In Training as we take on this disease together. I have enclosed the necessary donor form and a stamped, addressed envelope in hopes that this will make it as easy as possible for you to give whatever you can. I realize how busy life can be. Because you have everything you need in this letter, why not take a few extra minutes right now to write a check to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society? Your donation is, of course, 100% tax-deductible, and any amount that you can give helps tremendously. If you want to talk to me more about the marathon or about Team in Training, you can get more information on my personal marathon website, www.gokennergo.com , and I can be reached via e-mail. Thank you so much for your kind consideration, and thank you for both your moral and financial support as I take on this terrific challenge. Sincerely, Kenner P.S.
