Who Are You?
You are my friend, my family, my co-worker. You're my dentist, my former teacher, my attorney, or anyone else that I have ever known that I thought might want to join me in this fight. I hope that some of you are the friends and family of my own friends and my own family. All of you are welcome; all of you are appreciated.Regardless of your relationship to me... if you are here, you have already demonstrated that you are someone who cares enough to do something. I am training for and running this marathon to raise money for a cause that is very important to me, and I know from past experience that the preparation is going to be long and arduous. That's why having your support would mean so much. Which leads me to...
How Can You Help?
First off, thank you in advance for your willingness to pitch in. I hate to spout platitudes, but it is nothing but the truth that together we can make a difference.I have set a personal fundraising goal of $5000, and I would surely appreciate any amount that you could contribute to help me attain this goal. There are several ways that you can do this:
- Online
Probably the easiest way. You can click here to be taken to my official fundraising page hosted by The National AIDS Marathon Training Program. - By Mail
You can also click here to download and print the necessary donor form. Just fill this out, then send the form and payment (either credit card number entry or attached check/money order made out to "AIDS Marathon - Chicago") to:
AIDS MARATHON CHICAGO
1506 Paysphere Circle
Chicago, IL 60674 - Through Me
See me every day? Just download and complete the donor form as outlined above, then drop your payment off with me and I will mail it in for you.
There are two notes that I would like to add. The first is that many companies offer charitable gift matching that can double or even triple the amount of your gift! Please ask your employer if such a program is available to you. Also, and this is very important: if you would like to contribute, please don't wait. I say this because I am just like you and I am familiar with your predicament. Life can be a real whirlwind; seconds bleed into minutes bleed into days, weeks, months. I am the king of setting something aside to be dealt with later, and I am also the king of letting that thing sit and sit and never quite getting to it. If you think that you would like to donate, please don't let this happen to you. For my part, I will probably be reminding you several times over the next weeks and months that this opportunity to contribute exists. But if I can do anything else to help you, please just let me know.
I will be adding some information to this page on other ways that you can join in the fight against AIDS, so please keep checking back! And keep an eye on my Training Blog for updates on how I'm doing as I prepare for this challenge. Thanks again for coming by!Kenner
